First-ballot Hall of Famer Johnny Bench was inducted in 1989. Bench was a 14-time All-Star selection and a two-time NL MVP as a member of The Big Red Machine, which won four NL pennants and two World Series championships. “Rawlings” manufactured catcher’s mitt. On the palm reads ““DEEP WELL” POCKET” and a “HEART of the HIDE” logo. Adjacent is Bench’s signature stamped. On the outside wrist area is a red “Rawlings” manufacturer’s tag. Adjacent reads “WING TIP” and “Nu-Grip Streamlined” stamped on the glove. Above the red tag is player number “5” and below the red tag reads “BENCH” in black marker. Bench signed the glove in black marker above the player number “5” and in our opinion rates a 7. This glove is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate use. Accompanied by an LOA from JSA and Denny Esken.
