Gary Carter was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003. The 11-Time All-Star won the 1986 World Series Championship with the New York Mets and was nicknamed “Kid” for his youthful exuberance on the baseball field. Inside the rear collar is a “Rawlings” size “46” manufacturer’s tag with washing instructions. Attached is a flag tag that reads “SET 1 1985”. Below is a strip tag that had “8 46 1” embroidered on it. Across the chest reads “Mets”. Player number “8” appears on both the front and on the back. Across the back reads player name “CARTER” sewn onto a white nameplate. All numbering and lettering are done in the same blue on orange tackle twill. This jersey has been photomatched to opening day of the '85 season; the first game Gary Carter played as a member of the New York Mets on April 9, 1985 vs. St. Louis Cardinals. With one out in the bottom of the 10th inning, Carter hit a walk-off home run to give the Mets the win. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion, shows outstanding use. Accompanied by a Carter Foundation LOA.

Lots 128–136 presented in this auction are consigned to us directly from the Carter Family in an effort to raise money for their charity, The Gary Carter Foundation.

The Gary Carter Foundation aims to better the physical, mental and spiritual well being of children as well as its primary focus, the Autism Project of Palm Beach County. We are proud supporters of their efforts and hope that the auctioning off of these items aids their efforts.
