The Deer Lake Training Camp is what Muhammad Ali whittled out of the Pennsylvania woods that became a mecca for great athletes, personalities from the world of entertainment, politicians and fight enthusiasts. It was at the camp that Ali trained, lived with his family and psyched himself for the fights that lay ahead. Written words of the great Ali are truly hard to find, but this plank of wood that was removed from the training room of the camp, is a piece of great significance in sports history. Ali recorded his training regimen for an upcoming bout. He wrote down his road work, ring work, shadow boxing and other parts of the workout. As an example, one part of it reads “Aug 20 up at 4:30 AM - run 40 min. 3 ½ miles - massage exc - weight before run 228 after 226 - massage”. These words give a glimpse inside the training of one of the most iconic figures in sports. Sourced from Deer Lake’s original owner. Approximately 72” x 9”. Accompanied by an LOA from JSA and Guernsey.
