The 1963 National Football League Championship Game was played on December 29, 1963 at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Y.A. Tittle and the New York Giants faced Doug Atkins and the Chicago Bears, a.k.a the “Monsters of Midway”. Both teams scored touchdowns in the first quarter, a Giants field goal in the second quarter gave the Giants a 10-3 lead. A 1-yard rushing touchdown by Bears quarterback Bill Wade would be the deciding factor in the game and the Bears would win the franchise’s eighth NFL Championship. This “WILSON/THORP SPORTING GOODS” manufactured “THE DUKE” football features the embossed signature of Commissioner Pete Rozelle. It is in EX condition. The football is properly stamped, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate use. Accompanied by a LOA from Joseph A. Bauer, son of the Bears’ former ball boy during the 1950s and 60s.
