The 1965–66 Texas Western Miners basketball team made history by winning the 1966 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, becoming the first team with an all-black starting lineup to win an NCAA basketball national championship. The Miners beat the University of Kentucky 72-65. Jerry Armstrong was a senior on the team and played in 24 games. The entire team was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2007. On the front left tail is a “SAND KNIT” manufacturer’s tag with a size “38” flag tag attached. On the front of the shirt reads “TEXAS WESTERN”. Player number “21” appears on the front and on the back. All numbering and lettering are done in the same white tackle twill lettering with a navy blue stitched border sewn directly onto the orange jersey. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. This jersey’s historical significance is second to none in college athletics. Accompanied by an LOA from Willie Cager, a player on the 1966 championship team.
