Framed and matted in a museum-quality display to measure approximately 15” x 15”, this piece features twelve strands of George Washington’s hair, a ½” x ½” swatch of Washington’s cloak and a 4-½” x 1-¼” piece of a document with Washington’s signature. The signature is done in black ink and in our opinion rates a 5, there is a small tear in the paper. Adjacent to the left is a rendering of General Washington and below is a plaque that reads, “GEORGE WASHINGTON - 1732 - 1799 - First in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of countrymen” A signature, a piece of his coat and a lock of his hair”. Accompanied by a copy of a LOA from handwriting expert Charles Hamilton as well a copy of the invoice from a previous sale. Also included is a 22” x 17-¾” color reproduction of the full document where Washington’s signature was cut from. Further accompanied by a LOA from JSA for the signature.
