8” x 3-?” check encapsulated by PSA/DNA (Cert# 83382955) to measure 12-½” x 5-½” and graded MINT 9. The “Office of The Post-Dispatch - St. Louis - State Savings Association” check has been filled out and signed by Joseph Pulitzer, newspaper publisher of the St. Louis Post Dispatch and the man who created the Pulitzer Prize, an annual award for achievements in newspaper and online journalism, literature, and musical composition in the United States. Check number “314” is dated October 15, 1880; paid to the order of “Haynes Collins” in the amount of “$175-”. It is signed and filled out in black fountain ink, except for the check number, which is in red. The signature, in our opinion, rates a strong 9. It has been endorsed on the verso by “Haynes Collins”, the verso also features a purple “St. Louis Clearing House” bank stamp dated October 16, 1880. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
