Dwight Gooden quickly became a baseball phenom, winning the National League Rookie of the Year in his first season as a New York Met. Gooden went 17-9 with a 2.60 ERA and 276 strikeouts as a 19-year-old. He finished second in the NL Cy Young voting and went on to win three World Series championships. On the inside below the rear collar is a “Rawlings” size “42” manufacturer’s tag with washing instructions. Attached is a “SET 1 1984” flag tag. Below is a blue stirp tag with, “16 42 1” embroidered on it. Across the front reads, “Mets”. Player number “16” appears on the front and on the back. Across the back reads the player name, “GOODEN” on a blue nameplate. All numbering and lettering are done in grey on orange tackle twill. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate use.
