Bill Dickey was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1954. He is a 14-time World Series champion and his No. 8 is retired by the New York Yankees. “The Stratton Story” was released in 1949 and was a film about a 1930s Chicago White Sox pitcher who had to reshape his playing career after a tragic accident. Bill Dickey was one of the players in the movie that played himself and this was the uniform he wore while filming. Grey flannel jersey with “NEW YORK” across the chest and the player number “8” on the back in blue felt numbering and lettering. Inside the rear center tail is a “WESTERN COSTUME CO.” stamp and the number “62” stamped adjacent in blue. On the inside below the rear collar is a “GoldSmith” manufacturer’s tag with a size “44” flag tag attached. “SPALDING” manufactured navy blue hat with a white felt “NY” logo on the front. Accompanied by a copy of a photo of Dickey in the jersey and cap from the movie.
