Roy Campanella was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1969. This jacket dates to the early 1950s and is likely attributed to one of Campy’s three NL MVP award-winning seasons that he won in the first half of the decade (‘51, ‘53 & ‘55). On the inside below the collar is a "Skinner" manufacturer's tag with a size "46" flag tag attached below. On the inside of the zipper path is an "EARL-GLO" tag and a "Milium" tag. Across the chest reads, "Dodgers". On the left sleeve is the player number "39". These are done in white tackle twill sewn directly onto the blue satin jacket. There are holes in the wrist areas and the white tackle twill from "Dodgers" has a little fraying. This jacket is properly tagged, was presented to us as worn by Campanella and in our opinion shows excellent wear. Accompanied by a LOA from when the jacket was originally obtained by our consignor in a 1986 charity auction held by the Dodgers 65 Roses Club and his winning invoice. We were told by our consignor that while bidding on this jacket in the 1986 charity auction, he was informed that it was consigned directly from the Campanella's and that it was worn in 1955 when the Dodgers won the World Series and Campanella won his third National League MVP award. Campanella is listed as an officer of the 65 Roses Club.
