The Yankee Clipper, Joe DiMaggio is one of baseball's all-time great players that holds one of the most impressive records in any sport's history. The Hall of Fame outfielder strung together a 56-game hitting streak from May 15 to July 16 during the 1941 season. DiMaggio played his entire 13-year career with the New York Yankees and was voted an All-Star in all 13 seasons. The nine-time World Series champion was a three-time AL MVP. He was named to Major League Baseball's All-Century Team and his No. 5 is retired by the Yankees franchise. Inside on the leather band is a “SPALDING” manufacturer’s tag. Adjacent, "7 J. DiMaggio” is straight-stitch embroidered in tan thread. On the front of the cap is a white interlocking “NY” logo stitched onto the navy blue wool hat. Short brim with eight stitch lines that join various portions of the fabric to form the bill, this in conjunction with the style of player identification and manufacturer's label pinpoints this to the mid-to-late 1930s. The cap is in fantastic all-original condition. This cap is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and shows excellent use. We were told by our consignor that this cap came directly off DiMaggio's head and has been in their family's possession ever since. We guarantee this cap to pass any authentication process.
