Eugene Morris was called "Mercury" for the quicksilver moves he displayed running with the football. Morris, with Larry Csonka and Jim Kiick, formed a triumverate of horsepower that took the Miami Dolphins to consecutive Super Bowl victories in 1972 and ‘73. Super Bowl VII, played on January 14, 1973 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, capped the only undefeated season in NFL history. During that season, Morris rushed for 1,000 yards and scored 12 TDs and in his career, he rang up at least 100 yards 10 times. Morris' Super Bowl VII ring is almost as unblemished as the Dolphins' perfect season. On the circumference of the near-1K, size 11 3/4 ring is engraved "Miami Dolphins 1972 World Champions." At the core is a large diamond on black stone, surrounded by 17 smaller diamonds, one for each of the club's victories that season, all totaling around one carat. On the left shank is written "Super Bowl VII" and "Perfect Season," and a depiction of the Vince Lombardi Trophy centers the game score and the numbers "17-0." On the right shank is "Morris" and the words "Winning Edge" above and below the Dolphins' logo. Perfect is the only word for this ring, which comes with a letter of authenticity from Morris.
