Stanford ruled the college football universe in 1940 when the "Wow Boys" smashed their way to a perfect 10-0 record and beat Nebraska in the Rose Bowl by a 21-3 score. Football scholars credit this team with revolutionizing football, by implementing the game's first T-formation that shifted All-American Frankie Albert from tailback to quarterback taking snaps right up from under the center. The scheme baffled opponents, who rather than fight the new system switched to the T themselves. This gorgeous cherry-red jacket was presented to team members for winning the Pacific Coast Conference title, and it's a prize treat for those who cherish the great teams of the past. The snap-fronted jacket seems to be as crisp and swaggering as it was a half-century ago, preserved in magnificent condition with only scattered markings of wear. Its crown jewel is the twinkling gold "Stanford PCC Champions" patch sewn in the shape of a football on the left breast.
