The College All-Star game was held every pre-season from 1936-76. It pitted the NFL Champions from the previous year against a team of graduated college senior All-Stars. The game was played every year at Soldier Field in Chicago with the NFL Champs winning 31 of 41 contests. Jim Sears was a member of the 1950-53 USC Trojans football team. In 1952, the Trojans beat Wisconsin 7-0 for the Pacific Coast Conference's first win over the Big Ten Conference in seven Rose Bowls. Sears was a member of the 1953 college All-Stars who played against the NFL Champions, Detroit Lions. The Lions won the contest 24-10. This is the 1953 All-Star blue dureen jersey of USC Trojan, Jim Sears. The player number "22" appears on both the front and back of the jersey in white tackle twill. There are 10 red felt "Stars" on both shoulders of the jersey. On the crotch piece is the "Wilson" label and adjacent is the size tag, "44". It shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. The "Wilson" All-Star helmet is dark blue with 4 silver stars on each side of the helmet. There are 4 red stars down the center of the helmet. On the inside of the helmet, the protective padding is completely intact. The Styrofoam that is located under the initial padding is slowly disintegrating. The original two-snap leather chin-strap is included. The All-Star blanket was given to each player who participated in the event. This 6'x 5' white wool blanket has a blue trim and a 12"x 11" red, white and blue All-Star shield directly in the middle. It reads "All-Stars 1953".
