This size 12, 10k gold players ring weighs 23 grams and was presented to John Clawson as a member of the USA men’s basketball team that competed in the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. The team took home gold medals after going undefeated (9-0) in the Games of the XIX Olympiad. The top of the ring reads “U.S. OLYMPIC TEAM 1968” surrounding a ruby-like red synthetic stone. The left panel features the casted image of an Olympic torch, laurelled leaves, a shield that reads “BASKETBALL” and three banners that read “CITIUS”, “ALTIUS” and “FORTIUS”—Latin for "Faster, Higher, Stronger". The right panel is identical to the left except the shield features the five Olympic rings. The inside of the ring is engraved with the initials “JRC” and stamped “(C) JOSTENS 10K”. The ring is in NM condition and is accompanied by a LOA from John Clawson.
