We were told by our consignor that this "baseball was hit over the scoreboard at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh, PA by Ralph Kiner in a game against the Cubs in August of 1948." Kiner indeed hit a home run on August 10, 1948 at Forbes Field against the Cubs. The manufacturer’s stamp is no longer visible. The ball reads “To GAIL STEELE A RED HEAD FROM SIGEL PENN GOOD LUCK” and “GAIL This BALL WAS HIT OVER THE SCOREBOARD by RALPH KINER AUG. 48 IN GAME WITH CUBS”. Hall of Famer Honus Wagner later signed the ball on the sweet spot; in our opinion the signature rates a 7. All is done in black ballpoint pen. The ball shows signs of excellent game-use. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA and an additional LOA.
