Collection of four vintage 9” x 3 ¼” New York Yankees payroll checks from 1922-25. The front of each check reads “THE AMERICAN LEAGUE BASE BALL CLUB OF NEW YORK INC.”. The checks are made out to New York Yankee employees Sam Jones, George Perry, A.A. Woods and R.J. Gilks. All four checks are signed by Hall of Famer and Yankee President Jacob Ruppert in black fountain ink, in our opinion the signatures rate from a 9 to near perfect 10. Three checks have been countersigned by fellow Hall of Famer and Yankees secretary Ed Barrow in the same black fountain ink, in our opinion the signatures rate from an 8 to a near perfect 10. All four checks have been endorsed by the respective employee in black fountain ink (except R.J. Gilks who signed in pencil), in our opinion the signatures rate from an 8 to a 9. The checks are all in EX-NM condition with some creasing.
