On April 12, 1970, Jimmy Wynn would become the first player to ever hit a home run into the upper deck of the Astrodome, launching a Phil Niekro knuckleball over 500 feet down the left-field line. The seat containing the impact crater was later re-upholstered with the image of a cannon to commemorate the home run. When the Astrodome was renovated in the late 1980s, the seat was given to Wynn where it resided in his home until it was purchased from Wynn. The metal framed seat comes affixed to a wooden base with wooden armrests. The seat has been re-upholstered in dark grey and features a padded bottom and back. On the back of the chair is a large star painted in white and outlined in orange paint with Wynn’s number “24” in the middle. Adjacent above to the left reads “My longest one ever.” in silver marker. Adjacent above to the right reads “Phil Niekro H.O.F. - 97” also in silver marker. Adjacent below reads “Jimmy Wynn 4•12•1970” in white paint. The seat is in EX-NM restored condition. This item will require additional shipping charges due to it’s size.
