Lou Boudreau played shortstop for the Cleveland Indians for just four seasons when at the age of 24, the team named him player-manager—the youngest manager in major league history. During his nine season tenure as player-manager, Boudreau once led the American League in batting average (.327 in ‘44) and was named to the All-Star team eight times. Under Boudreau, the Indians had six winning seasons including a World Series title in 1948 where he was also named League MVP. A career .295 hitter, Boudreau still holds the record for hitting the most consecutive doubles after hitting four in a game on July 14, 1946. His accomplishments and his wide-ranging skills led him to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1970. This size 8.5, 10k players ring weighs 28 grams. It was presented to Lou Boudreau upon his induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The top panel reads “BASEBALL HALL OF FAME” in relief surrounding an onyx stone with an arrangement of four diamonds in the center which do not appear to be part of the ring's original design. The ring has a total diamond weight of approximately .20-carats. The left panel features a banner that reads “BOUDREAU” above the casted image of a baseball diamond, two bats, a baseball and a banner that partially reads “ELECTED 1970”. The right panel features a banner that reads “SHORTSTOP” above the casted image of the facade of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and a banner that partially reads “THE NATIONAL BASEBALL HALL OF FAME”. The inside of the ring is stamped “BALFOUR 10K”. The ring is in VG-EX condition with moderate wear from regular use. Accompanied by a LOA from the Boudreau family.
