“The Iron Man” Cal Ripken, Jr. passed Lou Gehrig’s record for most consecutive games played in 1995, a record that stood for 56 years and many deemed unbreakable. Ripken still holds the record today as he was elected into the Hall of Fame in 2007. The World Series champion has also won the AL MVP two times and was a 19-time All-Star. On the inner rear sweatband is the “New Era” manufacturer’s tag. Adjacent to the right is the size “7 ¼” tag. Adjacent to the left is a “MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL” tag with the player number “8” written on it in black marker. On the underside of the brim is the player number “8” written in the same black marker. On the front of the cap is the Baltimore “Smiling Oriole” logo embroidered in orange, black and white. Ripken has signed the front right of the hat in black marker, in our opinion the signature rates a strong 7. The cap is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows use. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
