In 1998, future first-ballot Hall of Famer Derek Jeter helped lead the Yankees to a franchise-record 114 regular season wins as well as their 24th Championship. Jeter was an AL All-Star and finished third in voting for AL MVP with a .324 batting average, 203 hits, 30 stolen bases and an AL-leading 127 runs scored. On the front left tail of the jersey is the “RUSSELL ATHLETIC” manufacturer’s tag with wash instructions, size “48” and a flag tag reading “100% POLYESTER” with a “STEINER” hologram sticker. Adjacent below is a white strip tag printed with the year “1998”. Across the front is “NEW YORK”. On the back is the player number “2”. All lettering and numbering is done in navy blue on white tackle twill. Jeter has signed the front of the jersey in blue marker with the added inscription “#2 98 Game Used”, in our opinion the signature rates a 7. The jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate. use. On the inner rear waistline of the pants is a “RUSSELL ATHLETIC” size “35” manufacturer’s tag with washing instructions. On this tag is a “Yankees Steiner” hologram sticker. Attached is a “100% POLYESTER H-CUT” tag. Adjacent is a tag that reads, “JETER 35H-34-98” tag with the number “18” written on it. There is also a “STEINER GAME USED 208007” hologram sticker. On the back left thigh area is a large repair, seemingly from sliding. These pants are properly tagged, were presented to us as game-used and in our opinion show outstanding use as they most likely went down to the minor leagues. Accompanied by a full LOA from JSA for the signature, a Steiner COA card for the jersey and a Steiner LOA for the pants.
