This jersey was worn by five-time All-Star, two-time World Series Champion, and eleven-time Gold Glove first baseman Keith Hernandez. The jersey was worn during the 1982 season in which Hernandez and the Cardinals were named World Champions after defeating the Milwaukee Brewers in seven games. On the inner right tail is the “Rawlings” manufacturer’s tag with size “42”, wash instructions and a flag tag reading “SET 1 1982”. Across the front reads “Cardinals” in red chain-stitch embroidery. Adjacent below and on back is the player number “37”. Across the back is the player name “HERNANDEZ”. All are done in red on navy blue tackle twill. A restored black memorial armband is embroidered around the left arm commemorating the death of Ken Boyer. Boyer passed away on September 7, 1982 and the team wore the memorial bands for the rest of the season including the World Series. Hernandez has signed the front of the jersey in black marker with the added inscription “#37”, in our opinion the signature rates a 9. The jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA and an additional LOA.
