Stargell was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1988. During his 21-year career with the Pirates, “Pops” batted .282, with 2,232 hits, 475 home runs and 1,540 RBI’s, helping his team capture two National League pennants and two World Series titles in 1971 and 1979. He was a seven-time All-Star, two-time NL Home Run Champion and the 1979 NLCS and World Series MVP. In 1975, Stargell played in 124 games hitting .295 with 90 RBI and 22 home runs. On the front left tail of the road grey jersey is a “Wilson” manufacturer’s tag with size “46” and wash instructions. Adjacent above is a grey strip tag that reads “8 46 75” done in black chain-stitching. Centered on the inner rear tail are the initials “H.D.” written in black marker. Across the front of the jersey reads “PIRATES”. Adjacent below and on back is Stargell’s number “8”. All lettering and numbering is done in the same black on gold tackle twill. The sleeve trim is done in the traditional Pirates black, white and gold. The neck trim is the stretched braided material in classic gold and black. A very small repair appears on the left sleeve. On the inner rear waistband of the road grey pants is a “Wilson” manufacturer’s tag with size “38” and wash instructions. Adjacent to the left is a grey strip tag reading “8 38 24 75” done in black chain-stitching. On the outside of the inner rear left pocket are the same “H.D.” initials written in black marker. On the outside of the inner rear right pocket is a faded player number “8” written in black marker with the number “43” written over it in green. The waist trim is done in the same traditional Pirates black, white and gold. This rare uniform ensemble is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use.
