Released on January 13, 1969, the Beatles' "Yellow Submarine" album was the original soundtrack of the movie that served up animated cartoon images of the Fab Four's journey with Captain Fred to rid Pepperland of the music-heating Blue Meanies. Sandwiched between the White Album and "Abbey Road," the LP was a light-hearted break from the heavily personal, experimental forms the group was involved in as they neared their breakup later that year. The 40-minute long album featured only six songs, the previously-released "Yellow Submarine" and "All You Need Is Love," and the new tracks "It's All Too Much," "Only A Northern Song," All Together Now," and "Hey Bulldog" with the rest consisting of orchestral music conducted by producer George Martin. This stunning, mounted and framed gold record was issued to certify the LP's million dollars in sales. The RIAA certification is under the record on the lower right if the frame. On the lower left is a small copy of the illustrated album cover. The piece is a frame within a frame, with the inner one being original. The gold-edged outer black frame measures 31" x 27 ½.". The record is mounted in an area measuring 21" x 17." The inner and outer frames are in excellent condition and the gold record itself is near-mint, while a few small scratches are on the wood border of the area around the disc. Proof of the never-ending popularity of the Beatles was a recent "Yellow Submarine Day"in Liverpool, England, when a celebration of the album's re-release drew over 100,000 people. Another album of the band's number-one hits quickly went to the top of the charts. Beatles memorabilia, in the words of one of their songs, keeps getting better (not to mention more valuable) all the time.
