Robert Stroud spent most of his adult life behind the cold grey walls of Alcatraz Prison. Incarcerated for murder, Stroud drew national attention because of his study of birds. Burt Lancaster recieved critical acclaim for his portrayal of the Birdman of Alcatraz, in the picture of the same name. On two 8" by 11" pages of lined paper, Stroud has written to the Presiding Judge of The District Court of California. The letter speaks of letters he has written to his attorney. The letter is in excellent+ condition and is quite interesting. The letter is signed, Robert Stroud, has his prison #594 and the words Alactraz, California.
