Larry Holmes had his training by being the sparring partner to "the greatest", Muhammad Ali. In 1978, Holmes received his big break when he beat Ken Norton for the WBC Heavyweight Championship. The tutor met the teacher in 1980 when Holmes played with an aging Ali and won after Ali couldn't answer in the eleventh round. Holmes successfully defended his title for an incredible seven-and-a-half years, falling just one victory short of Rocky Marciano's record 49 consecutive wins. These boxing trunks were used by Holmes in the 1992 championship fight against the titleholder, Evander Holyfield. The trunks are white satin with red satin trim. The B.U.M. Equipment label is on the red waistband and "B.U.M. Equipment" is stitched on the left leg. Holmes' black marker autograph includes "6/19/92, Peace". The signature rates a strong 8. In addition to the trunks is an 8" x 10" color glossy of the bout and a souvenir ticket. The photo is signed by both fighters in blue marker, both rating 9. These items are handsomely displayed and framed (32" x 46"). It comes with a letter of authenticity from Holmes himself.
