The playing career of Johnny Pesky got off to a fast start, leading the American League in base hits his first three seasons as a major league ballplayer. Missing three seasons while serving in World War II, Pesky knew how to get on base and was one of the toughest outs in the league when he was in uniform. Pesky spent three seasons as a member of the Detroit Tigers. Pesky left his mark on the game of baseball forever in Boston, as the right field foul pole is named, “Pesky’s Pole”. On the front left tail is a “Rawlings” manufacturer’s tag with a size “42” flag tag attached. Below is a tag with washing instructions and a flag tag attached that reads, “SET 1 1954”. Inside on the rear collar fold is a white felt strip tag with the player name “Pesky J” embroidered on it in navy blue chain-stitching. On the left chest is the team’s “D” logo and on the back is the player number “7”. These are done in navy blue felt lettering sewn directly onto the cream-colored flannel jersey. On the inside of the rear waistline of the pants is a “Rawlings” manufacturer’s tag with a flag tag attached that reads, “SET 1 1954”. Attached adjacent is a tag with washing instructions and a size “34” tag. Adjacent is a strip tag with “24” Inseam” typed on it. Below is the player number “7” written in pen. Two navy blue stirrups. This uniform is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion, shows appropriate game-use and remains in fantastic overall condition. Accompanied by an LOA from Johnny’s brother, Vince, who originally sold this uniform.
