In 1911, Alexander broke into the Majors like few rookies before or since. He led the league in wins(28), complete games(31), shutouts(7) and innings pitched (367). His 28 wins as a rookie is still a modern record. From 1915-17, he won 94 games with an average ERA of 1.53. He became the only pitcher to ever win the Triple Crown of pitching- wins, ERA, and strikeouts- three consecutive years. His 373 career wins ties him for 3rd all-time with Christy Mathewson and his 90 career shutouts puts him second behind Walter Johnson. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1939. SR-8.
