Fred "Dixie" Walker batted .306 over a career that spanned 18 years. Walker was a Hall of Fame caliber player who is unfortunately best remembered for his opposition to Jackie Robinson's integrating the Brooklyn Dodgers, a stand that influenced Branch Rickey to trade Walker to the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1948. This is the only single-signed Walker ball we have ever seen, and it is a beauty. The jet black signature rates a 9 on the sweet spot of a toned ONL Feeney baseball that first entered the market through the Barry Halper auction.
