For years it was said that the Washington Senators were "first in war, first in peace, and last in the American League," but not in 1924 and ‘25, when the Senators were first in the American League. This remarkable find, a lightly toned OAL Johnson ball signed by 23 members of the Senators, is testament to the franchise's sole world championship in 1924 when they took down John McGraw's New York Giants in seven games. The Senators fielded three future Hall of Famers: Walter Johnson, Goose Goslin and player-manager Bucky Harris. Shortstop Roger Peckinpagh was the AL MVP in ‘25. The signatures of those four men are clearly visible, and Harris signed on the sweet spot with "1924 World Champs" and "A.L.C. 1925." All signatures are in black ink and while some are faded, most are readable and rate 6s and 7s.
