The 1949 Brooklyn Dodgers won the NL pennant by one game before losing to the Yankees in a tough-luck World Series in which they lost two games by one run and another by two runs. Among the 29 members of the team who signed this handsome, beautifully-toned, near-mint ONL Frick ball are manager Burt Shotton (SS), Jackie Robinson (an added bonus is the signature of the scout who signed Jackie, Clyde Sukeforth), Gil Hodges, Pee Wee Reese, Preacher Roe, Carl Furillo, Roy Campanella, Don Newcombe, Rex Barney, Ralph Branca, etc. Time has been quite kind to the ball and to the signatures, most of which are clear, dark and full of life, including Robinson's at the top of a side panel, rating a good 8 in a field ranging from 6s to solid 9s.
