The 1966 season marked the bittersweet end of Sandy Koufax's magnificent career. Though his
27-9 record, 1.73 ERA and 317 strikeouts won him his third Cy Young award, the molten lefthander was forced to retire at age 31 because of an arthritic pitching elbow. This near excellent-condition, very lightly toned ONL Giles ball bears the signatures of 23 members of the 1966 Los Angeles Dodgers who rode the arms of Koufax and fellow Hall of Famer Don Drysdale to their third NL pennant in four years. All signatures are crisp and clear, ranging from 6s to 9s, with Koufax's on the high end. Others include Hall of Fame manager Walter Walston (SS), Maury Wills, Willie Davis, John Roseboro, Don Sutton, Bill Singer, Ron Fairly, etc.
