Carl Yastrzemski was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989 on the first ballot. “Yaz” was an 18-time All-Star, won the American League MVP in 1967 via the Triple Crown and was a three-time AL batting champion. His No. 8 is retired by the Boston Red Sox franchise. On the front left tail is a “Wilson” size “42” manufacturer’s tag with washing instructions. Below is a year swatch with “83” embroidered on it in navy blue chain-stitching. Across the chest reads, “BOSTON” and the player number “8” appears on the back. These are done in navy blue tackle twill sewn directly onto the grey jersey. This jersey is sourced through the hobby over 10 years ago. It was recently reviewed by an independent authenticator, who had issues with the sizing of the shirt when compared to on hand Wilson exemplars. It is tagged size 42, but measures slightly larger. The sizing can be explained by numerous Yastrzemski road jerseys being stolen during the 1983 season, creating the need for quick replacements. This story is confirmed by a former team employee that would have knowledge of the situation. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate use.
