The Pittsburgh Pirates had an argument to settle in 1971, after having been swept by the Cincinnati Reds in the NL Championship Series the year before. The Bucs won the NL East by 7 games, blew away the San Francisco Giants in the playoffs and conquered the favored Baltimore Orioles in a heart-stopping World Series. Falling behind two games to none in the World Series, they refused to pack it in, squaring matters and then taking game seven on the road, winning 2-1 behind the pitching of Steve Blass and a home run by Series MVP Roberto Clemente, who would die tragically a year later. This ONL Feeney ball was signed by 22 members of the champion Pirates including Clemenete (last name on a side panel, graded at 6), Blass, Willie Stargell, Manny Sanguillen, Dock Ellis, Richie Hebner, Nelson Briles, Milt May, Dave Cash, Jose Pagan, Dave Giusti, Gene Alley, etc. Signatures are 5s and 6s on the good condition ball.
