Kyle Rote was highly regarded as a halfback and wide receiver at Southern Methodist University and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1964. Most notably In a historic game in 1949, in a near upset by SMU over Notre Dame, Rote ran for 115 yards, threw for 146 yards and scored three touchdowns. Rote's performance was voted by the Texas Sportswriters Association as "The Outstanding Individual Performance by a Texas Athlete in the First Half of the 20th Century." For a quirky fun fact, Rote holds the National Collegiate record for the longest punt. In his senior year at SMU, Rote was runner-up for the Heisman Trophy. On the front left tail is a “C AND S SPORTING GOODS CO.” distributor’s tag combined with a “SAND KNIT” manufacturer’s tag. Attached adjacent is a size “44” flag tag. The player number “44” appears on both the front and on the back in white tackle twill sewn directly onto the red durene jersey. There are multiple holes on each sleeve and there is a small rip below the front player number. This jersey was graded an A10 in an additional LOA and was sourced from the team’s photographer. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use.
