On April 21, 1984, Dave Palmer pitched 5 2/3 perfect innings for the Montreal Expos before the game was called due to rain. His 4-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals remains the only shortened perfect game in history. This ball was used in the game and kept by home plate umpire Eric Gregg, who had Palmer sign it to him. The blue ink signature and inscription, which rate a 9, reads "To Eric Thanks for calling a perfect game Dave Palmer."
