After five dominant seasons in the ABA, which saw Julius “Dr. J” Erving win two ABA championships, two ABA playoff MVPs and three ABA MVP awards, Erving’s talent were brought to the NBA landscape. In 1976-77, Erving’s first year with the Philadelphia 76ers saw him average 21.6 points per game. Erving eventually won an NBA championship, won the league’s MVP award and two NBA All-Star Game MVPs. Erving was named to both the ABA’s All-Time Team and the NBA’s 50th Anniversary All-Time Team, has his No. 6 retired by the Philadelphia 76ers franchise and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993. On the front left tail is a “Wilson” size “42” manufacturer’s tag with washing instructions. Attached below is a faded blank flag tag and above is a blue swatch with “76” embroidered on it in white chain-stitching. Across the chest reads, “SIXERS” and the player number “6” appears on both the front and on the back in white on red tackle twill. Across the back reads the player name, “ERVING” in white tackle twill sewn directly onto the blue mesh jersey. On the inside below the rear waistline of the shorts is a “Wilson” size “34” manufacturer’s tag with washing instructions. Attached below is a flag tag with, “x RISE & INS” written in pen. Below is a blue strip tag with, “76 6” embroidered on it in white chain-stitching. On each side of the shorts are two red tackle twill stars with, “76” below in red and blue tackle twill. The white trim on the uniform has a blue hue, presumably due to multiple washings. This uniform is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding use. An outstanding Erving one-year style dating back to his first days in the NBA.
