While seven of the 15 ballparks in the National League opened their doors in the 1990s, Wrigley Field has no intentions of closing the doors that opened in 1916. Wrigley, with its rustic ivy-covered outfield walls and legion of Chicago Cubs "bleacher bums," is the oldest and proudest park in the league and one of the best things about a visit to Wrigley is seeing how fresh and alive baseball antiquity can seem from a seat in the grandstand. Indeed, even this old wooden seat from those stands that was replaced in the 1930s seems to be every bit as perky as it was when it was young. Its dark green color is bright and nearly free of wear and damage, and the only hint of age is a thin coat of rust on the metal supports.
