This beautifully mounted, exceedingly rare red and white Boston Red Sox pennant with 90 years of history behind it would surely comfort the broken heart of any long-suffering Red Sox fan. It hearkens back to 1912, when their ancestral cousins tasted a Red Sox championship, sparking dreams that the winning would go on forever but in fact endured only until 1918, the last time the Sox won it all (with a pitcher-outfielder named Babe Ruth, who was traded the next year). The 1912 edition of the team (Ruth's arrival was two years away) was led by future Hall of Fame outfielder Tris Speaker, who hit .383, and pitcher Joe Wood, who racked up an amazing 34-5 record. This monster team won 105 games during the regular season, then took down the New York Giants in the World Series. The 16" long pennant that fans unfurled that season has been preserved with the utmost care under glass in an immaculate 26" x 10 ½" brown wood frame. The pennant reads "Red Sox - 1912" on the white middle stripe, with two red socks on either side of the words. It's mounted on a light brown interior surface next to a card featuring a group photograph of the 1912 team that was managed by player-manager Jake Stahl. This classic item of lost glory just might make Red Sox fans forget about the Curse of the Bambino, at least for a while.
