"The Kid" Gary Carter was the heart and soul of a New York Mets team that took the MLB by storm in the mid 1980s with young, dominant pitching. His timely hitting in the 1986 playoffs led the Mets to their second World Series championship en route to his Hall of Fame career. Inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003, Carter is an 11-time All-Star and is the New York Mets Hall of Fame. On the front left tail is a "W.A. Goodman & Sons" size "44" manufacturer's tag with washing instructions. Adjacent is a strip tag with, "SET P '86" embroidered in blue stitching. Across the chest reads, "Mets", the player number "8" appears on both the front and on the back and across the back reads the player name, "CARTER". All numbering and lettering are done in blue on orange tackle twill sewn directly onto the grey jersey. The lower portion of the back player number shows significant buckling, which can be attributed to his chest protector strap being in that spot. On the left sleeve is an embroidered patch that reads, "1962 Mets 1986 25TH ANNIVERSARY". Carter signed adjacent to the front player number in black pen and in our opinion, rates a 7 overall. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used in the 1986 playoffs and in our opinion shows appropriate use. Accompanied by an LOA from JSA.
