Roy Campanella's Hall of Fame catching career came to a sudden and tragic end when he lost the use of his legs in a 1957 automobile accident. But "Campy," one of the most popular of the Brooklyn Dodger "Boys of Summer," remained in the public eye in the early and mid-1960s as the host of a TV show broadcast between games of New York Yankees doubleheaders in which he interviewed the heroes of the opening game and offered his thoughts about the game in general. This cardboard ad for the show will surely strike a warm spot in the hearts of longtime Yankee fans who can easily remember the bygone days when "Baseball and Ballantine" was the slogan heard at Yankee Stadium. It shows a smiling Campanella next to a cold bottle and glass of the brew. The top portion of the yellow and red colored ad reads, "Double Header! Ballantine Beer with a bright new label! Roy Campanella Show on Yankee Baseball!" The 14" x 21" ad is mounted on a slightly larger white background and is in near-flawless condition.
