The New York Yankees held baseball's first Old Timer's Day in 1939 as part of a tribute to the fatally-stricken Lou Gehrig. The tradition has continued each season since, when fans are given a dose of Yankees mystique, which is written all over this 30" pennant which was a souvenir of one such event in the 1960s. The pennant commemorates three of the team's greatest legends, Babe Ruth, Gehrig, and Joe DiMaggio, each of whom is captured in a black and white picture swinging a bat on an 8 ½" x 10" card that is glued onto the left third of the pennant. The words "Old Timer's" are written in orange lettering across the rest of the pennant along with an orange and white Yankees high-hat logo, against a royal blue background. There is an orange border and two orange tassels on the left side of the pennant, which shows very few traces of wear.
