Dick Williams managed the Oakland A's to consecutive World Championships in 1972-73, leading a wild cast of mustachioed characters led by Reggie Jackson, Sal Bando, Catfish Hunter and Joe Rudi, and putting up with the meddlesome antics of owner Charles O. Finley. The A's wore white shoes and green uniform shirts, and had as their team mascot a mule named "Charley O." Despite intramural fights and Charlie Finley, the team always seemed to congeal in time for the Series. In 1972, they conquered the Big Red Machine, 4 games to 3. The next year, they victimized the New York Mets, also 4 games to 3. These excellent-condition hardwood plaques, 12" x15" in size, are embossed with a brass figurine of a ballplayer swinging a bat, leaflike designs and the score of each game in the series.
