In 1981, first ballot National Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Steve Carlton won his one and only Gold Glove Award. Carlton won two World Series, was a four-time National League Cy Young Award winner, has his No. 32 retired by the Philadelphia Phillies franchise and earned the pitching Triple Crown in 1972. On the front left tail is a “Wilson” size “46” manufacturer’s tag with washing instructions. Below is a white strip tag with, “81 1” embroidered on it in navy blue chain-stitching. Inside on the rear collar fold is a white strip tag with the player name, “Carlton” embroidered on it in navy blue chain-stitching. On the left chest is the team’s “P” logo, the player number “32” appears on the right chest and on the back and across the back reads the player name, “CARLTON” on a white nameplate. All numbering and lettering is done in burgundy tackle twill. Below the front player number, Carlton signed the jersey in blue pen and in our opinion rates a 7 overall. Present in both underarm areas is maroon pilling and transfer marks from their undershirts. The zipper is intact. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate use. Accompanied by a full JSA LOA.
