“Mr. Padre” Tony Gwynn is one of the best and most consistent hitters in MLB history, backed up by his eight National League batting titles. Gwynn was a 15-time All-Star, won seven Silver Slugger Awards, has his No. 19 retired by the San Diego Padres franchise and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on the first ballot in 2007. On the front left tail is a “RUSSELL ATHLETIC” size “44” manufacturer’s tag with washing instructions. Attached below is a flag tag that reads, “100% POLYESTER”. Across the chest reads, “PADRES” and on the back is the player number “19”. These are done in navy blue on white on orange triple tackle twill. Across the back reads the player name, “GWYNN” in navy blue tackle twill sewn directly onto the pinstripe jersey. Gwynn signed below, “PADRES” in pen but it is heavily faded and is partially visible. In our opinion, the autograph rates a 2 overall. Gwynn signed the back player number “1” in silver pen with the added inscription, “HOF 07” and in our opinion, rates a 6-7 overall. On the back player number “9” is a hologram sticker. On the right sleeve is a Russell Athletic logo embroidered in navy blue stitching. On the left sleeve is an embroidered patch that reads, “1969 SAN DIEGO PADRES 25 Baseball Club 1993”. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by an LOA from JSA and an additional LOA from former MLB player Bret Boone.
