The 1998 season was an incredible one for baseball and for one player in particular it was spectacular. When St. Louis Cardinal Mark McGwire hit his 70 home runs he set a new record that is sure to stand for years to come and ensuring his place on the list of the greatest power hitters the game has ever seen. These two pine tar applicators, featuring the St. Louis logo on the front, were used by the team when they visited Shea where McGwire hit three of his record seventy home runs. Both show tremendous use and are covered in pine tar.
