Dick Williams nearly came to the Yankees as manager in 1974 when offered the job by George Steinbrenner, but he was still under contract to Charlie Finley's Oakland A's and Finley refused to let him out. Twenty years later he got his Yankee stripes when Steinbrenner hired Williams as a talent scout. When the Yankees won the world championship in 1996, they awarded him with this ring, emblematic of the first of four Yankee championships in five years. This 10K gold, size 12 in near mint condition ring is magnificent in its design and content. Around the top of the ring is written World Champions 1996. At the recessed top of the ring are 24 small diamonds, totaling approximately one carat and spelling out the NY Yankee logo, while resting on a large blue stone. On the left shank is the name Williams, a gold World Series Trophy with the engraved words Courage and Heart. On the right shank is the Yankee top hat logo over a ball and set against Yankee Stadium and the word Tradition. The ring comes in the original New York Yankee presentation brown wood box.
