After 22 years in baseball Willie Mays left the game being recognized as one of the greatest to ever take the field. A two time MVP Mays played in twenty four all-star games and was named player of the decade for the 1960s by "the Sporting News". He is remembered not only for his incredible ability to play, but also for approach to the game and showmanship on the field. This hat was worn by Mays during his playing days with the San Francisco Giants. In the band of the hat is the "KM PRO CAP" label. Imprinted in the leather band is a "KM PRO CAP" logo and the size, "6 7/8". On the underside of bill of the cap is the number "24" written in black marker. The hat shows tremendous use and is accompanied by a letter on Giants Stationary from Eddie Logan who was then equipment manager for the Giants.
