After spending eight years in the minors, the New York Yankees finally called on Selkirk to replace Babe Ruth as the teams right fielder and to wear his number "3". Once in the big leagues, Selkirk became a lifetime Yankee and was part of a Joe McCarthy team that won five world championships. This Hillerich and Bradsby bat has the labeling period from 1931-33. It is a 35", 34 1/4 oz. Pre-Model number bat that shows good game use and is uncracked. The bat has been side written, "4-9-38 35 oz. George Selkirk- 4-9-38, NY Amer Lea Yankees" in heavy greased pencil.
