Sandy Koufax is arguably the best left handed pitcher to live. For five consecutive years, 1962-1966, Koufax led the National League in ERA, pitched one perfect game, five no-hitters, 33 shutouts, struck out 300 or more batters 3 times, and compiled a 111-34 record over that span. During the 1965 season, Koufax unanimously won the Cy Young award, set the MLB record for strikeouts at 382, and led the league in wins, ERA and complete games. Koufax threw his perfect game on September 9th, 1965, a 1-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs at Dodger Stadium. This game has widely been considered one of the best games ever pitched on both sides. The Dodgers recorded one hit in the 1-0 victory scoring the lone run on a throwing error. This 5" x 8" Baseball Writers’ Association Official Score Book was kept by the first sportswriter to cover the Dodgers in Los Angeles, Frank Finch, who covered Los Angeles sports for more than four decades. Spiral bound, Finch has scored every game in blue ink, including Koufax’s perfect game and the World Series. Koufax signed on the date when his perfect game was thrown in blue ink and in our opinion the signature rates a 10. With several notes taken in the margins as well, this is a tremendous piece of baseball history. Accompanied by a Full LOA from JSA.
